About equi-LIBRIUM

Gathered together with over 250 years worth of senior therapy, leadership and coaching experience between us we determined to take action on our common belief that as a collaborative of experts on our fields we could achieve more by coming together than we were able to do in the large organisations we had professionally come from. Equi-Librium Coaching and Therapy was born. It was born out of a belief that people who are not able to afford theory and coaching either through their own finical means or the backing of an employer could benefit from our help. Born of a belief that working with progressive thinking corporate organisations to help them with their leadership and coaching would help support low cost therapy and coaching for people from hard to reach communities or where finance, social disadvantage, race, or other forms of social exclusion become barriers to growth. In so doing we help grow communities and connections. Our commercial offers for everything from leadership coaching to organisational consulting helps support us in many ways. We seek to work with organisations that seek to align with us. We seek organisations whose corporate social responsibility draws them to spend their money wisely. We are a non-profit organisation. Any money we make goes back to the business to support our clients. 

We also seek to encourage our corporate and public sector clients to align with some of the socially excluded clients and groups that we work with by directly supporting their development. 

One thing we know is that our clients who can’t afford to work with professionals like us without this support don’t want “free stuff”. They want the dignity of contributing themselves. For that reason we ask that people consider setting up a “genius account”. They metaphorically “bank” a talent or future talent that they can offer in return for our services. This might be helping us out with chores on the yard. It might be volunteering in their local community. It might be that they don’t yet know what they can contribute so they can “bank” what it is that they want to contribute until they find their future talent, their “genius” and at some point they too can look to give back. 

 We fund our work through a number of streams: 

• Grants - we are lucky to be supported by a number of organisations which generously give to our work. They can be found under the “Funders and Partners” section of this website. 
• Paying clients - many of the organisations who commission our services for coaching or organisational development purposes chose to give a “social responsibility” levy to directly support our work. Equally therapy clients who can afford to self fund often chose to donate.  
• Our amazing events ! We wanted to do stuff to help our funding but were also fun, and all about connection and community. From this the Man v Horse (England) (TM) race was born. • Partnerships with other like minded organisations, such as Turning Point/Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service 

Philip, one of our co-founders, is famous for saying at the outset of Equi-Librium Coaching and Therapy (TM) that the two things he didn’t want to do was sit in meetings and “do beuarocracy anymore”. So for his benefit we have pruned away what isn’t necessary but we see the benefit in making structures and governance serve our founding aims. 

Equi-Librium Coaching and Therapy (TM) is a social enterprise. Its legal form is as a Community Interest Company (CIC). It has a Board of Directors, who are selected for their abilities and experiences in the work that we do.   

Sitting with our Board, the collaborative members (mainly practitioners) of Equi-Librium Coaching and Therapy (TM) come together once a quarter with our Board to look at how we are doing and to bring fresh new ideas. We hope that some of these ideas, with nurture, care and the right conditions, will grow into new innovations.  

We also work alongside our “Affinity Partners”. We are committed to our communities, to their growth and encouraging their resilience. We invite individuals and organisations to join us as Affinity Partners {Click Button here}who align with our values and who come together for our network meetings four times a year to contribute ideas, to being their energy and help support our aims in whatever way they wish. All all we do we believe in openness, collaboration and giving and receiving help to bring about progressive social change and defeat social injustice. Less an organisation, more a movement.
